About
Hello, I'm Slavo Petrik
I’m a manager, software guy, and founder of 12G Flight Systems and clickandtweak.com. Ex-Airbus, ex-Bombardier, ex-Sony, Technical Writer, and product creator.
Whatever I did in my life, I always ended up writing–writing project plans, writing release plans, writing specifications or quality reports.
There is something scary about writing. We stare at a blank page. It’s difficult to start. When we finally write the specification or design down, another strange moment comes. We must show it to others, risking being criticized. Hence, we often opt not to write documentation at all.
For hundreds of years engineers have communicated and shaped their ideas on paper. Imagine the Brooklyn Bridge or Panama Canal being built without extensive documentation.
Today’s systems and software are at least as complex as the Panama Canal. Catching hundreds of data items, dynamics, system context, testing, and such in emails or chats is impossible anymore.
May I offer you my first-hand experience? Here it is: Somehow, the projects that wrote the information down worked out better. 90% of the projects fail because of poor technical and managerial communication.
The culture of sharing information in the documents and putting structure into daily project chaos is what I want to share with you in my products. We don’t need to overwork it; we only need a Minimum Viable Documentation.
The best time to start is today. I hope to see you soon on the other side of these pages.
